Owning a puppy is almost like having a new child in the family. Raising a puppy requires a great deal of responsibility, but the rewards are well worth the effort it takes to raise one. The first 4 to 6 months are especially difficult, and smaller breeds of dogs tend to be more difficult than larger breeds. Puppies will require you to supply everything they need to survive in life - food, shelter, attention, etc. Smaller breeds are prone to hypoglycemia and they are more difficult to potty train than larger breeds, but a smaller breed will be forever your puppy. When a larger breed is grown most people treat them as a dog rather than a puppy, but when people see a tiny grown yorkie they tend to baby-talk to it still. When they pick the dog up, they'll hold it like a puppy as well.
Before deciding if this breed is right for you, read my page describing the characteristics of the breed "About Yorkies". Also, read this page carefully, ensuring that you can provide the needs of the puppy and that you have the patience needed to raise one.
